I was looking at a few Meostar R1's the other day and noticed one had "Assembled in the USA" on the eye piece while the other said "Made in Czechoslovakia". Is there any difference between the two? Optical quality? My son's R1 says "Made in Czechoslovakia" and the optical quality rivals my Kahles CL 3-10x50 MZ. Neither my son nor I can see a distinguishable difference between his R1 and my CL. I just don't want to buy a R1 that says "Made in the USA" and there be a difference between that and one made in Czechoslovakia that I was ignorant of and wish I knew better.

First, I was wrong in my first post in regards to what one of the scope says on the eye peice. One says "Made in Czech Republic" and the other "Assembled in the USA".
Regardless, I figured very few have had the opportunity to compare the scopes. So today I called Meopta and spoke to Matt. He said there is nothing different between the two scopes other than where they are made. Both manufacturing locations must meet the same strict specifications. |
