Have been looking at the meopro line of rifle scopes recently, as I am fond of the idea of cheap quality German glass. This will be my first scope to go atop my first precision firearm of which I found a fantastic deal I couldn't refuse. For a listing price of $550 on a 4-12x50 I wouldn't say it's a bad idea. Has anyone had any in the field experience with the brand of scope ?

Meopta makes very nice scopes and for the money it is hard to do better.
The scopes are built in their entirety at Meopta facilities. In case of the MeoPro, the components are made at their primary plant/headquarters in the Czech Republic and the assembly is done in the US. ILya

Meopta scopes are excellent scopes that are quite competitive with German offerings. However, as ILya referenced, they are Czech, and not German.

I have the 4-12x50 meopro and imo you would have to spend double the money to get something better

I have 2 of the Meopro's a 3-9x50 with a #4 plex that is a low light hammer and a3.5-10x44 with a bdc that is almost as bright but the reticle is better suited for lr work. I have always had various brands of optics but as money allows I am up grading all my scopes to meoptas if they offer a model that fits my needs.
