Hello, I'm considering purchasing a meprolight M21 and I would like to hear from anyone with astigmatism about their experiences with this sight? I have astigmatism and an Aimpoint PRO and several other LED type dot sights. The dots pretty much look like Patrick Starfish in most of them. Would the fiber optic and tritium light source of the M21 still distort? Thanks in advance.

I have astigmatism and quite like red dots. I have a Burris Fastfire, Geco (Presume Chinese made and branded Geco) and a Leica ASPH. The more you spend the less "flairy" the dot. Wearing glasses I don't get much flair, though I can't resolve anything much beyond arms length. Scrummy

M21's dot will still be distorted, but likely a little less than the sights you have tried. That is mostly due to the fact that it has fairly long focal length and the dot is not hugely bright. Running the dot too bright makes it noticably worse for astigmatism.

I have owned SEVEN Mepro 21 optics. Each have been the triangle. I have had NO issues with astigmatism and that optic. I know many others who choose this optics specifically because they have an astigmatism, and have no issues.
The bullseye version isn't nearly as good, IMHO The dot is too big, so at 50 yards and beyond, it covers too much of the target. The triangle version is great. Use the very top for precision shots. And, just cover the target with the triangle for quick shots.

Well after my last trip to the eye doctor. I found out my astigmatism was actually congenital cataracts, in each eye. With the one in the right eye being More centered than the left. Makes sense since red dots were always less distorted using my left eye. I shoot right handed though.
I finally got around to buying a m21 after getting an eotech and a vortex uh1. The Holo sight are much less distorted than the LED type red dots with my right eye and crisp with my left. The m21is very crisp with either eye, outside. Inside when it's dark it's slightly distorted with my right eye. I guess it's my best option for now, until I can have it corrected with surgery, evening with its drawbacks. Thought those with similar problems may find my experience interesting.

Glad it worked out OK Mike. Is surgery far off? I have slight cataracts but no immediate need for surgery.

I imagine it'll be a few years from now. I can still pass the vision part of the DOT physical. I doubt my health insurance will pay for it until impacts my job.
