Assume my SF scope is set on 10x and this model was calibrated for mil dots reticle for 10x. My question is at 50 yards one mil dot would move the POI 1.8" with the mag set at 10x, is there a way to calculate this POI shift if the scope mag is moved to 20x and still 50 yards? Sorry if this is a dumb ? & thanks.

My message should be SFP scope and not SF.

On 20x, the mil-dot spacing of a SFP scope is half of that on 10x.

Center X is always the same at any power.
Magnification is entirely separate from how much each click moves point of impact.
1.0 Mil is 3.6 inches at 100 yds ( At 50 yds it's half that or 1.8 inches ) 0.1 Mil is .36 inches at 100 yds (At 50 yds it's half that or .18 inches per click if you have tenth mil clicks) 1 MOA is 1 inch at 100 yds (At 50 yds it's half that or .5 inch) 1/4 MOA is .25 in at 100 yds (At 50 yds it's half that or .125 inch per click if you have 1/4 MOA clicks) Doesn't matter what magnification the scope is set on your adjustments remain the same incremental value. If you are shooting at 50 yds with a second focal plane scope the reticle always looks the same at any magnification. At any magnification each click on a 1/10 mil turret will at 50 yds move point of impact 0.18 inches. If you had a fixed 20x next to a fixed 10x the magnification would be different and because both scopes are true to their corresponding mil dot reticle when you looked through the 20x it looks like the reticle is huge, like double the space between dots from looking through the 10x but one mil is still one mil and if you placed a ruler on the target you could see that both correspond to the same points on the ruler. one mil at 1000 yds is 36 inches so one mil at 500 yds is 18 inches, at 400 yds its 14.4 inches at 300 yds its 10.8 inches at 200 yds its 7.2 inches and each 1/10 moa click would be one tenth of those. some scopes have very true adjustments while others may not. Also worth mentioning if your scope goes to 20x and the mildots are set at 10x then when you dial up to 20x that reticle is now showing half mils so every second dot is 1 Mil and you can use it to range find at 20x Or use it for known hold over at 20x if you ran a ballistic chart and know your drop in Mil s similarly at 5x each dot would represent 2 Mil and you can use it to range find or for know hold over at 5x so when you are in low light and need to dial down to 5x to brighten the image you can still hold over using the dots as if they were a ballistic reticle .
