I've used both those you listed and both have been very good performers.  I did have one issue with the smaller 42obj one that minox quickly and effeciently handled.  The entire eye piece had became loose feeling and bothered me.  The scope never failed nor lost zero but the movement in the scope left me uneasy

I have one of the two mention and a 4-20x50 and they have impressed me.  Will definately continue to purchase in the future if I need an optic.

I liked the 3-15x50 and 4-20x50 quite a bit.  3-15x42 was not my cup of tea.

I had no quarlls with mine until the eyepiece came loose, only thing I think it needed was some sort of paralax adjustment, but it never became an issue for me in the field using it on a hunting gun.

From what I understand the loose eye piece was an issue sometime ago and has since been fixed. It is no longer an issue.

I'll vouch for the Minox (ZA5, 4-20x). Mine tracks great and nice glass; no issues.
Sorry, but can't help figure out your wife (or mine, either).

ditto on wife thing!   Sweet rig - BAR in .243.  Lots of scopes that you could top that off with.  I'd prolly go with a 3-9 if it were me, but that's just personal preference.  2.5-10 would be sweet too, but they usually cost more.  The 3-9x40 Conquest comes to mind as a great fit... if you can find one!
take em!

FYI, Minox is comming out with a total made in Germany  line of scopes very soon[next month or so]they will be pricey but I can only think they will be outstanding scopes. The line will be called ZE5i,E meaning Europe & i stads for Illuminated,5 stands for 5x magnification box.
