I'm new to OT, but the thread about the SS 3-15x42 sold me on the scope. I want to put it on a 6.8 AR, knowing that it's a little overpowered, but figure a little extra scope wouldn't hurt.  I would like a quick release base/mount for it.  I was looking at the SWFA Precision Optic 30mm Mount and the Warne Quick-Detach 30mm Rings.  I know there is obviously a difference in quality, but for this type of a setup would the Warne rings work or is it a waste that I would end up regretting?

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I'd humbly recommend the SWFA mount, which is actually a Bobro mount. They have redesigned the cap screws and made it easier.

IMHO, one piece mounts are superior than trying to dink around with tall rings.

Bobro or america defense. The warne AR rings are not a good choice IMO. My dad has those on his AR and getting the scope far enough forward with them is very difficult. And offset 1 piece is the way to go on an AR

I had and loved the "slightly forward" Bobro mount. I ran several scopes on that thing and found it ideal for me, because I shoot ever so slightly aft from the classic "nose to charging handle" position.

I concur with CT. I have one and love it.

I started with the LaRue LT-104 for my first mount on my AR.  Then I got the SS 3-15 with a Borbo for my 2nd setup. I liked the Bobro so much I sold the LaRue and bought another Bobro.
