i was just wanting to know if i plan on using the ss 10x42 scope with a 26" heavy barrel and McMillan rifle stock (savage action) what height of rings should i use?i plan on using a two piece picatinny type rail.this is my first "tactical"build any suggestions?

Hi Boss,

 

I have the Savage 10FPLE2A which is the same thing as yours' except mine have the Choate stocks. On the .223 I have a custom made Tactical base and am waiting on a SS16x42 scope to come for it and the .308 has a 2 pc. Warne base set (not Tactical) mounting a Leupold MK4. On both LE's are Warne medium height 614M Tactical rings. If I had to choose between a 1 piece and a 2 piece setup, I'd go for the 1 piece rail. I will be changing the .308 to a 1 piece rail

That is just an old guy's opinion. Either way, you're going to love that rifle...
