...I think.

I called Badger Ordnance today...Call

Surprisingly I learned that their rings will work on Weaver bases as well. I did not know this so that heightened my spirits a little. I've decided to order a SS10x42, and I want it to feel at home in the lookout position, if you know what I mean. The rifle in question is this...

http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/ShotgunsAndRifles/survivor.asp

It comes with a Weaver base...and if you'll notice, the hammer sits about 3-4mm higher than the base. So, high rings are needed. Since I'm wanting to get their Max-50 rings which are 1" wide, I'm thinking that I will need a picatinny base for a bit more spacing...?? If I do, I will get a Warne H&R base and mount it. Badger Ordnance does not make one, but I asked if the rings would fit and they said I'll be g2g. Excellent I'm hoping that with the 4" eye relief on the SS, I won't have to mount the scope so far back on the base and disturb my cheek pad shooting position.

I would probably be inclined to use Warne rings on that and save a  hundred bucks, not that I dont like Badger because I have a few but because I dont think you will see much difference with that setup.

Thanks for the info. I've been considering the Warne rings as well. Can't really imagine much of a difference other than cosmetic, and I guess Badger wins that one in most folk's mind. I am however set on steel/steel.Thunbs Up

What caliber?

Here's my HR setup for primitive weapon season in Mississippi, it works well.

The paint was my first outing with Duracoat, it looks like ass but is very very durable.
