Thanks for the great write up Jeff.
I can give you a touch more detail. I shot that 12pt at a verified range by Robert of 307 yards in low light with my Savage weather warrior 116 left handed bolt action 30-06 with the Burris Eliminator. That scope is just plain awesome. No need to fumble around with a range finder, its built in. No reason to take your eye off the animal to adjust ballistics...scope does it for you. Just aim, range and eliminate. Funny thing is I wasn't supposed to hunt Wed night. I was supposed to leave after the morning hunt but Madison hadn't shot anything yet (she had some does in her sights but some crazy weather spooked seconds before she shot). So I chose to stay, figuring I could get on the road no later than 9pm and be home 6hrs later and get enough sleep to go to work. Of course last minute I had my second only buck come out and give me a long range shot....turned out I didn't leave till almost midnite and got home around 630am and had to be at work at 730. But it was worth it.
Madison is still waiting for her first kill and I keep taking her out. She is seeing animals most of the time, they just don't come in range. We have a couple more trips planned before I get deployed this winter so I hope we can seal the deal with her.
As for the Respect Outdoors crew....awesome like they were when they invited me out to Jupiter FL in the summer. The staff at South Carolina Trophy Whitetails and Hog hunters was superb. They made sure we felt like family (the kind you like to be around) and food was plentiful. I hope to make it back to them to do more hunting.
So what does anyone want to know?
Sam

Thought I'd update everyone....
Madison finally did shoot her first deer. During Thanksgiving holiday she shot a doe at 50yds with her CVA muzzleloader. Then later in January she shot an 8pt Buck at 80yds in low light with her CVA muzzlelaoader (both times with 90gr). Can't thank Robert and Respect Outdoors enough for treating her so well on the hunts we did. He is one of the main reasons she likes to hunt, he treated her like a rockstar. I also got to meet great people on this trip and we are trying to get together again for a group hunt.
