I'm looking at a scope with the following reticle
As you can see it has a 1/4 M.O.A. Dot ...... I believe that means that the dot will cover 1/4 M.O.A. at 100 yards at the reference magnification. (1 M.O.A. = 1.04719756") and I think the reference magnification is marked in "red" (or some other color) on a variable power scope.
Here's what I'm not sure of ...... at the same referenced magnification how big of a circle will that 1/4 M.O.A. dot cover at 25 yards?
Would it cover 4 times more (1") or 4 times less (1/32") ?????
Thanks ....

The dot size at 25 yards will be 1/4 of 1/4" which will be 1/16" |

I think it is really unlikely that the dot is 1/4 moa total size and more likely that it is a 1 moa dot with 1/4 moa click adjustment. The fine cross hair reticles are probably about 1/4moa thick, any thinner and you probably couldnt see them.
A 1 moa dot is one inch at 100 yds, or one half inch at 50 yds, or a quarter inch at 25 yds.

I called Bushnell ... the Dot is 1/4 M.O.A. at 100 yards and 6 Power. I didn't ask about the crosshair width but it is narrower.
My NightForce BR Scope has a .200 M.O.A. Dot with .030 M.O.A. Crosshairs (yup, that's .030) These scopes are for Benchrest applications ... and the .030 Crosshair is fine
Thanks for the replies everyone ..... Edited by macky |
