OK,
I am looking to add new glass to my Thompson Encore .460. Budget minded
I have been looking at scopes $200.00 or less. Something that will take
the impact of this round and let me reach out to 250-300 Yards. My list
so far is:
New Scopes: Anyone have experience with these? Any suggestions? Thanks !!! |

MC Sports about a mile from my home had a Nikon PROSTAFF 2-7x32 #6719 on Clearance for $81.00 out the door. So that is what I just picked up. It says is made for hard recoil rifles. Fingers crossed!!

Hope it works for you. lookin at your list not many I have looked at in a long time. Can't advise that you use a shotgun scope and get the distance you hope to get. Yes it can be done but the parallax is set different for shorter effective ranges. Was gonna suggest this one because I do have experience with it and it has performed very well. If the one you got doesn't do what you want give this one a look. Also keep in mind, if you get a variable scope under 200.00 that does what you want and holds up. Consider it a luck of the draw. This Nikon being one of the repeatable exceptions. http://swfa.com/Nikon-3-9x40-ProStaff-Riflescope-P48753.aspx Good luck and Welcome to the OT! |

Thank you for the information. I am looking at the
NIK6721 you pointed out right now. I think the Nikon I picked up is considered a rifle scope. They have a Prostaff shotgun in their line up but, this one is not dedicated to shot gun. If I can get this sighted at 200 yards I think that will be the max I would want to take the .460 anyway. This will be my first Nikon scope. I have had nothing but BSA, Simmons, Bushnell on my .22LR, 17HMR. I use mostly Iron sights, but for this Thompson I was hoping to get some pin point accuracy.

Good deal, I think your gonna like the Nikon. The pro-staff line has really impressive glass for the money.
