I just bought a blaser lrs2 in 300 Win Mag. I don't feel like spending more then $1400 on a new scope if I buy a new one at all. I currently have a Leupold Mk 4 LRT in 6.5-20 X 50 sitting on my remington that I could take off and swap over with QD mounts to the LRS2. I'm looking at another mk4 (the 8.5-25 X 50) and the IOR Valdada scope. How do these two scopes match up? I know that the leupold is good scope from expereince with it and that it gives a good clear picture. The IOR definately sounds good having top notch glass and good specs, but at a price very close to that of the leupold it makes it a "expensive" test to find out if it's a good scope. If I had unlimited money it'd buy something like Schmit and Bender police marksmen or a US optics SN-9, but since I'm on a budget...
Any suggestions on a good scope for my gun...?? |

This is a "tactical" rifle. I'm giving serious consideration to the Zeiss V/VM 6-20 mildot. I like the leupold mark 4's but I would kind of like to try something new..

Hi,
You might look at Nightforce too, as an alternative. The issue with the Zeiss Diavari 6-24x56 mil/IR mil is the restricted elevation. I think 58 or 59 MOA is all, but if you get a 20 MOA base, then you're fine. The Nightforce 5.5-22x50/56 are upwards of 90 MOA, but you can street them for under $1400 and they come stock with illuminated reticles, where the IR Mil Zeiss will probably run closer to $1800-$1900, with the non-IR being a few hundred less.
Good luck, Chris |
