I just ordered a Browning X-bolt 7mm 08, now i need to put some glass on it, i will be using it for deer hunting in eastern Oregon, any suggestions would help, i really do not want to spend more than $500.00 on a new scope. Thanks

Got the same rifle in .308.  If you could still get them I'd suggest a Zeiss 2.5x8x32.  That's what I put on mine.  The Zeiss 3x9x40 is a bit oversized on a short action X-Bolt.  Might consider the Monarch 2x8x32 or a Leupy 2.5x8x36.  The Elite 4200 3x9x40 probably wouldn't be too big.  The Minox Z5 1.5x8x32 is also in your price range.

+1 with the Minox Z5 1.5 - 8 X 32. Also, the Sightron Big Sky scopes are very nice, and they have a climate control coating similar to the Bushy Rainguard. Although the Sightron SII Big Sky 3-9 x 36 has A.O., it's still a great little scope for general hunting purposes.

The MeoPro 3-9x42 is a good choice for a wide range of hunting choices.  You'll be able to keep a low profile on the gun with low or medium rings and the eye-relief of 3.75 inches is ideal for a 7mm 08.
Of course, the main attractions of any Meopta scope are going to be the light transmission, resolution and edge-to-edge clarity.
Yes I work for Meopta, but I am not here to sell Meopta. Just answering questions and providing reasonable insight.

I had one of the Vortex Viper 2-7x32 closeout scopes on my X-Bolt 7mm-08 before a buddy bought the rifle.  I thought that was a perfect little setup.  The eye relief and mounting distances were just right for me too.  I used Leupold mounts and low rings, and had plenty of clearance.  I would still have that rifle and still have the Viper on it if it fit me better and/or my friend hadn't fallen in love with the rifle.

Also, that rifle shot incredibly small groups with cheap Prvi Partizan 140 grain ammo.  You might want to try some...

I had a 3-9X40 conquest on a Rem model 7  7-08 and it worked well for years.  I must say, I like the look of the little 2-7X32 Viper on it now better.  Just feels right.
