First some description:
I just got an older Burris scope from my dad.  It says 3x-9x Burris on the side.  There are a couple of metallic stickers on the ocular bell but, the scope was painted over many years ago as part of a camoflauging scheme and the stickers are now unreadably covered in paint.
The scope has an interesting reticle.  The magnification ring has, on the "top" side of the ring,  numbers corresponding to the scopes magnification.  Underneath these magnification numbers, on the "bottom" side of the ring, there are yardage figures starting at 200 and increasing in 50 yd increments and topping out at 500 yds.   Looking through the scope, at 3x it is a basic Duplex reticle with two additional horizontal lines located at the bottom of the FoV for a total of three horizontal lines.  Then, when you turn the magnification ring, the main reticle splits and gives two seperate reticles that increase in their distance one from the other as you increase magnification - so that now you actually have four seperate horizontal lines.
So, my questions are probably pretty obvious.  Do any of you know anything about this scope?  What are the two horizontal stadia at the bottom of the FoV for?  How does one use the main crosshair(s)?  Why do they split?  You know, the usual.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like one of the original Burris Signatures.  I saw one similar to that, but it only had two lines, and a dot that slid when you turned the ring.  You would turn it till the deers body fit in the two lines, and then use the dot as the aiming point.

I am guessing that yours does some sort of the same thing.
