I've just purchased some new New EL 8.5 W B online from Wilkinsons cameras which state they are the field Pro W B. I'd read some reviews dating back to a 2015 revision which I assumed was the latest model. However in the box there's no hard case just a soft pouch. I guess your paying for the optics but Im a little disappointed that they don't come with a strong carry case especially at this kind of price. On Swarovski's site it does say "storage bag" for the EL's now which I assume is literally just the little soft bag I got with mine. Im just wondering if anyone who's purchased recently got the same.

Besides that the bin's are really nice! I recently upgraded from an older pair of Hawke Frontier ED 10x36 to Bushnell Forge 10x42 but they broke within a month so I changed them out for the Hawke ED X 10x42 which are nice and have a great FOV but I felt like they lacked that pop I was looking for. I was tempted by the Nikon HG's but I thought spending nearly 1K on bins I might aswel spend that bit more and get a pair that are going to last me for years to come.

I have three pair of EL’s and one SLC dating from mid 2000’s to 2020, all came with padded, zippered, soft cases. I don’t think I’ve ever felt my binos under protected while in its case. If I ever feel the need for a hard case I’d buy a bomb proof case,
something like a Pelican, etc. At home my safe is my hard case. 😉

If memory servers me waaaaaay back when, some of the EL’s came with a hard case, the binos were way cheaper in price too!

I think you’ll really like you new binos, cheers! 🍻

It's a shame they didn't come with a hard case, especially considering the price. I totally get your disappointment. Sometimes it feels like we're paying a premium for the optics alone.Speaking of gear, I recently went through a similar experience with my Bushnell Forge binoculars. They broke within a month, so I swapped them out for the Hawke ED X 10x42, which has a great FOV but lacked that wow factor. I considered splurging on the Nikon HG's but figured if I'm investing nearly 1K, I might as well go the extra mile and get a pair that will last me for years. On another note, I've been on the lookout for a new laptop bag myself. While browsing online, I came across this Essential Modern Briefcase that caught my eye. It looks sleek and functional. Here's the link: https://vonbaer.com/products/essential-mоdern-briefcase.
