I got this mount for my poor man gun, because the rings that came with the gun were bent and couldn't hold my scope tightly. $10.
It's just like the one here (same as the original) http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Side-Mount-Base-Bracket/dp/B000GU4PAA which I should have got if I wasn't broke - but mine is VERY different. Here's the problem - my rings aren't detatchable. I have no way of inserting a scope with an Ocular Lens larger than the 1" tube. Am I correct in this? What kind of scope is this mount made for? Any info on it? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Those rings will fit a vintage Weaver 330 scope. What kind of rifle are you putting this on? Maybe we can help you start over with something that will work. That scope would be more of a wall hanger than functional. Old and cheap is many times expensive and ineffective in the long run.

Old Arisaka type 99 I got for $60. Here's some pics of it http://imgur.com/friZcZt,zPr8kxu,BLBArze,HNLJqy7,DF75wij,Darj6OV,dIALzVj,uy4sjFF,oibiEcE#0
Guess I'll eventually end up ordering the new base and side mount.... You can install a scope in these rings, but you have to remove the objective lens, but that'll ruin a scope right?

Welcome to the OT, Brothah Heffay.
You're Right- can't take a scope apart. That old mount might be of interest to a collector. I've noticed some of the early Weaver scopes are bringing a fortune on auction sites. I guess you've figured out that mount was built when the objective lens fit within a straight tube. "Vintage" is the word for your mount. |

You did not get hurt on the rifle. Looks good. It will not be hard to repair where the sling mounts were removed. Who ever did the sporter conversion did a nice job for the most part. Nice the way the bolt was altered to use a scope.
You will need to get the measurements of the screw holes before getting another mount so it will match. Welcome to the OT. |

The holes aren't perfectly aligned, and the far left hole is larger than the other 3. Would it be rediculous to drill out the holes with a larger drill so they're lined up right, and then just retap them, all with a drill press?
