Hi everyone, I've been reading this board for a while, and I am real impressed by all the knowledge on here.
I have a T/C Encore pro hunter with 7mag barrel. I've been saving up and have my eye on a samplelist Zeiss Victory Diavari or a Swaro Z6. I have a few questions before I pull the trigger though. I plan on using the one piece talley mounts in either medium or high as explained below.
I am considering getting a 50mm but I am worried that I will have to use a high mounts and I am curious if:
1. The illuminated reticle is worth going to a high mount and
2. If a high mount will even give me a enough room for that scope on this rifle.
Otherwise, I am going with either:
or this
Thanks in advance

You are talking about some truely top quality optics all of which are very good choices. You are likely at high rings with a 50mm objective if you want flip up scope caps. The 42mm would work with medium rings. Having had several encores let me make a couple of suggestions regarding making it more accurate. Bullberry Barrel works : http://www.bullberry.com/ has a different hanger bar - fore end system that allows the barrel to be free floated. I believe that you can have them do the work on an existing barrel to add that system. They also make lovely hand carved wooden stocks and fore ends. There is another thing that effects accuracy - the pin that holds the barrel to the frame. Supposedly the difference between it being a little to the left or right can impact accuracy and now there are pins available that screw together having a lip on each side of the frame to secure the pin in position. http://www.prbullet.com/e-pin.htm one of my friends just swears by this type of pin saying that it has significantly increased his accuracy.
I like an illuminated reticle better than I like great glass because it helps the eye to get the reticle onto the game rapidly in low light or timber. One of my Encores has a 50mm objective and it's fine I like it.
so if you can add illumination do so.
