Is anyone familiar with Nichols scopes? They were made in Japan, the company is no longer in-business. Gary

Additional info on Nichols scopes: Manufacturer/importer was GU Inc., Omaha, Nebraska. I have a 3x9 and I am happy with the scope. Gary

Apparently Mr. Nichols owns Guns unlimited in Omaha, NE. He was supposedly a one time executive for Simmons who decided to go at it on his own. The scopes are supposed to be exact copies of the Simmons line and they were made in Japan. They were considered low-end with many costing under $100.00, they did have a few costing as much as $200.00. I would guess that these scopes were made by Hakko, that is only a guess. Nichols was also the one time importer of SKB shotguns. That is about all that I know on the subject. ranburr |

That is right on. He learned the "optic ropes" at Simmons and thought he could do the same thing. Nichols were indeed the same as Simmons (mostly 44-Mags) but priced cheaper. Only lasted a few years. We had a hard time selling them side by side over a Simmons because people had never heard of them and were concerned about future warranty issues should Nichols go away. |
