Hello,

I purchased a Monarch African 1-4x20 scope for my AR15 carbine recently.  It performs exactly as I had hoped and I am very happy with it's performance.  My question is concerning it's durability.  I know it has a lifetime warranty and all but that doesn't do me much good if it breaks or gets broken when I need it.  I'm a sucker for reliability and durability.

So I guess the question is, would you run this scope at "xyz" competition without a backup optic?  How about on a week long hunting trip without a backup?  Is this scope suitable as a "tactical" optic?

I am quite fond of 1-4x glass and I am guessing this particular one isn't up to snuff with some of the higher end stuff.  I am hopeful however.

While staying on topic what do you consider to be the most durable 1-4x optic out there (please include the SS 1-4x that will be out soonish)?

Regards,

Anything maufactured and put together can break and normally will in the least beneficial moments.  That said i believe they made that particular scope to be used on heavy hitters for african dangerous game hunting and you shouldn't have an issue with it on an AR15

I agree with SVT... anything mechanical can fail....but that is a tough scope, and should serve you admirably.
