Thanks to all.  Apologies to Son of Ed, i simply worked with what i was given. Not all things old are obsolete, but some are.  Knowing how to rebuild a tv picture tube was a big time skill once, now just a side comment.
All three classes are my intent, as time and budget permits.
As far as the rifle , stock stock as far as i know.  Piactinny base .
Could not exactly afford to buy the rifle but after all of 5 min of research, knew i could not pass it up either.

ILya just can't get over the fact that he, Ed and Bigdaddy all wear the same type of pajamas...

I do not wear pajamas and definitely not in that gaudy color.

Eventually, you will replace the stock with something else, but there is time for that.

With scope and rings, I suggest this:

and this:

You will also need objective and eyepiece caps.  I do not remember which size exactly fits, but you can call SWFA and ask.  Butler Creek caps turned into crap.  Vortex Defender caps are surprisingly decent for the money.

Welcome aboard Doug.
Be warned, there are some cutups here, but they mean well.

Welcome to a good and fun hobby too. You've been given some good advice and suggestions. I might also add that you need to find a load that your rifle likes too. If your using factory ammo, your going to find out that different brands, bullet weights, and bullet profiles make a big difference in how accurate your rifle will be. In shooting long range the ammo makes a big difference in performance.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.
