There are a couple of old model (gray housing) swarovski spotting scopes for sale on the used-trade in list here on SWFA. Got a couple of questions:
1. Are they good spotters? 2. Do new model eyepieces work with them and how well? I was thinking about going for one of these used ones. Can't nearly afford a new STS-80! Thanks Rob |

Personally, I think you would be better off purchasing a newer model Zeiss/Leica/Kowa off the Samplelist.
Yes, eyepieces for the ATS and STS should work for the AT and ST.

The ST and AT series scopes (grey body) are every bit as good as the newer models. If the price were right, i would not hesitate to purchase one.
Two years ago i tried a ST and a STS side by side, with the same zoom eyepiece (new model). I could not see any difference. Maybe the coatings are slightly improved on the new models, but not very much.
I suspect that the newer eyepieces are slightly better.
