I picked up a like new 1.5x6x42 tasco euro class scope yesterday at my local pond shop. Price was a steal and it was returnable if it did not work so I deside to take a chance. All works great and it is holding impact on my 44 mag rifle. Optics aren't to bad and it does well at low light similar to my leupold 1x4x20 shotscope which is more than I expected the tasco scope to do as most tasco's I have seen would not even come close to that little leupold shotgun scope at dusk. My ?? is where was this scope made. I see people saying they were made in Japan and I have also see 1.5x6x42 Euro boxs marked made in China on the net? Also is the older(pre bushnell) Titan line better or worse than the Euro class line performance and build wise. Thanks for any info I never hate to learn something!! |

The Euro-Class was our idea and we actually named it. This is when tasco was privately owned and had a different mind set, the World Class was still "World Class" and being made in Japan to very high standards. Tasco used several factories all over the orient but their best was in Japan. We had the idea to make a European style scope in Japan and brought our idea to George Rosenfield (then owner of tasco), he liked the idea but was not sure how to accomplish it. We ended up sending them a few Euro scopes to reverse engineer. After a few years....viola....we had a the Euro-Class. It was the best scope tasco had ever made and received well. Tasco had a hard time marketing a higher priced scope along side their bargain basement models and the Euro-Class was dropped because it did not meet their sales projections. The idea was revived later after tasco had made some headway in the market and gained more respect through the success of the Japan made World Class series. The reinvention of the Euro-Class was named the Titan, same concept only updated cosmetics. The Titan was very successful and considered to be one of the best scopes for the money in its time, many customers preferring them over scopes costing 2x more. George sold tasco in 1996 and the new regime cheapened the Titan scope line but maintained the same retail price. Chasing BSA, tasco went to China with most of their production and basically ruined their reputation and the hard earned reputation of the Titan. We have yet to see what Bushnell will do with them as they are the current owners. We plan to have an extensive visit with them at the SHOT show and offer tasco's full line of optics next year.

After having had two Euro Tasco 30 mm 3X12 I can vouch for their being one of the best scopes I have had in that price range and as Chris said probably better than scopes costing 2X as much. I would pick these up in heart beat if I could find any more, made the mistake of selling the last one on an AR. Faults, a bit heavy and no click stops.--But---
