I am looking for a scope/mount combination for two rifles. REM 700 AAC-SD and an 18" AR10 with a match barell. Max magnificaiton is at least 20x. I am looking at Larue/GDI Mounts or simmilar. I would like to invest my money into more scope instead of buying two scopes. I am looking at 1500 to 2000 for the optic alone. What scope / mount would you all recommend.

Optic Requirements:
20x magnification min.
Good Glass
FFP preferred
Tactical turrets
daylight visible Illumination

Mount:
Repeatable zero
QD preferred

I don't recommend scopes, but I agree with stick bow...

What about something with a little bit more power? Maybe say 24x? I have some visual issues that magnification really helps with.

In your price range, most of what would be gained in magnification suffers in optical clarity at the high end.

Mounts: 1st. Bobro, 2nd. ADM, 3rd. Larue.

Hard to beat the above advice on scopes above, in your price range.

I would spend 1500 to 2000 for a 5-20. if we are talking only 500 more for more magnification then I am in. More magnification means more options and I like options.

I would be looking at Aadland mounts. And a good torque wrench for mounting.

Explain what additional "options" you think you might get for $500 more than a SS 5-20... I am interested to know.  IF you want to spend $2000.00 more, THEN you will probably get more "options" (depending on how you define "options"), but $500 more, I don't think so.

You are in that price range and you want to share one scope between two rifles that require radically different height of rings.   How about you do this - take that extra $500 or so and spend it on a second scope like a used Zeiss Conquest or go cheap and put a scope like this on the one you shoot less.

The scope is for a .308 AR10 and a .308 bolt gun. I have some Sight issues that the extra magnafication would really help with.

sounds like a major PITB always swapping and rezeroing just to shoot a different rifle.  I am in the same predicament.. I have an AR that I just bought a $2300 Premier for and then I just got a 700 SPS so I need something with more mag just like you but really don't want to pop for another 3500 to get what I really want.  But alas it's only money so I think I will just bite the bullet so to say..
It's sneekin it past the ol lady that's the hard part!

If this is really what you want to do (not sure if I like the concept, but to each his own), you have to get a riser for the AR.

That way, you will be able to use standard low or medium rings for the scope.

In your price range there are three scopes that would work for you: SWFA SS 5-20x50, Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21x50 and Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50.  I wrote an article with the three side-by-side and while I like them all, my overall preference is for the SWFA SS 5-20x50, although by a rather small margin (Vortex did release a 10 mrad per turn Razor since then, however).

As far as mounts go, there are quite a few excellent quality rings out there with my preferred option being Aadland rings:

As far as bases go, there is no shortage of high quality bases for the Rem 700.  I like Seekins, but there are several good ones.

Similarly, there are several competent risers out there, perhaps Bager 22MOA riser is the way to go for you:

What are you using these two rifles for and at what distances are you looking to shoot at?

Get the scope of your choice and low or medium QD rings or mount and put a riser on your AR and a one piece picatinny base on your 308 rifle.

I have been looking around and I do believe that the SS 5-20 does meet my requirements. Does SWFA offer any discounts for Mil?
