So, Deck, your going to give the kids bows and arrows and going to the petting zoo. You really do need to get more sleep.

The petting zoo is what I call my house when my folks arrive.  The show up, ooh and aah over the kids for a couple days, and then they leave.  Hopefully dad brings the bow and arrow set he bought for my daughter.  I can't wait to start teaching her how to shoot...not that I'm qualified to do it, but whatever.  It will be fun.

That clears things up, but I must admit, I was looking forward to the entertainment value.

Thanks for reminding me Graham.  I need to make a note to get some flu-flu feathers and a quick fletch jig for some of my older arrows with the big blunt tips this weekend (for the coons).

Do those work pretty well?  I seem to recall hearing some good reports on them, but that was a while (years) back.

I was digging through my old archery tackle boxes last night and found a stack of flu-flu feathers.  So now all I need is the jig.  Too bad they don't make a re-fletch kit that has them.  Much easier.  One other question:  how many arrows did you ruin hitting a rock, etc.?  Seems they wouldn't be very forgiving if you hit something hard and a $7 arrow would be down the tubes.

Oh, and Mornin' Gents.

None,  I hit a metal building almost square on and didnt damage the arrow.  I did go to walmart and buy some cheap arrows and use them on those but even those don't break like you'd think with those heads.  I don't really mess with them much during the hunting season because i have to adjust my pins for them but as soon as seasons over I move back to them.

Thanks.  I may set up my backup bow for them.  It's a '97 Mathews Feathermax, but still shoots well.

I ate a dozen glazed Krispy Cremes and a 1/2 dozen boston kreme Krispy Kremes at one sitting the day after I graduated from Ranger School.

I lost another friend yesterday. He was a retired LPD detective, and firearms instructor. He was a trusted, serious, and respected law enforcement officer, who was also a cutup and funny. It was hilarious to watch him get our sgt. all riled up like a wet banty rooster, and then walk away from him; and they were good friends too. He was there when we started building our firearms training program; that eventually became the most respected in the state, and that includes Feds too.

I last saw him at the visitation for one of my captains a few months ago. He seemed fine and like himself. I found out that cancer got him. I was suprised when Mes. BF told me of his death.
He was a good cop, and a good friend. I will miss him.

Sorry for your loss, Lynn. It's a damned shame that good men die.
