Dang Peddler, I never thought about using a high end spotting scope to watch hawks. They never sit still long enough to set up on one.

One of the balloon races just started, and I don't even have a pair of cheap binoculars, dangit.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

I'm already planning to put this one on the 6x45 permenantly.  Then get another for the Savage 223, another for the blaser, another for the SPS Tact and at that point see whats left :)

During the migration they fly along the lake and at the southeastern end there's a spot called Derby Hill, they come right over the end the lake and over Derby Hill. The hill is quite well known as one of the top hawk migration places in the country. I believe they count well over 50,000 raptors during the spring migration. That's Eagles, Golden Eagles, Peregrines, and every other raptor you can think of. I'll let you know what the count is after next Saturday. They have a full time counter I believe from March thru June who lives on the property during the migration. You can google Derby Hill and see what the count is right now.

Cool

About a month ago, I was walking my dogs and kept hearing hawks screaming. It took me a bit to find them, but I counted 7 or 8 flying around, playing with each other.
50,000 raptors in one area, wow I bet that scares the hell out of the rabbits.

The problem is not owning binoculars, it's having binoculars with me. Thanks anyway.

Mornin' Gents.  Quick question -- well, maybe not quick.

I'm putting a 600 gal holding tank at my camp house and I'm looking for a pump and 12v power system so I can have on-demand water when I'm at the camp.  The pump I'm looking at is a Remco variable speed 12V that draws 6.5a.  I've also found a 120 watt 7amp solar panel for $200.  Anyone have experience with running a similar setup from a cicstern or holding tank?  If so, any recommendations so I don't throw good money after bad? Thanks.

Although personally I am quite content with existing explosives, I feel we must not stand in the path of improvement. -Winston Churchill

DANGIT! (emotorcon beating head against wall) You know Mrs. BF took the CC away from me (emotorcon walking around on crutches).
I have a pair of Bushnell 7x35, but they're old and heavy. I also have a pair of Tasco 7x50 that are pretty nice, but walking around with them is like hanging concrete block around your neck. I've been thinking about a nice pair of light weight binoculars too.

Deck, are you using the solar panel to charge a battery, and the battery to power the pump?

BF, binoculars don't come in pairs, they are a binocular. A pair of binoculars would be two binoculars.
