Deck, glad to hear the repairs are done. On another note re: ice cover on the Great lakes. I took a ride along the Lakeshore on my way home this afternoon and I couldn't believe how much ice I was looking at. I've lived Outside of Oswego for 20 years and I've never seen that much ice. I couldn't see open water. I've emailed a friend who lives on the Lake to see what his observations are. Still if you google ice cover on the Great Lakes, Ontario is only at 20%.

That's nuts, Skip.  I guess the St. Lawrence keeps Ontario moving.

This could make for some huge ice jams and dams in the next few weeks. The strange part to me will be all the people that get flooded every few years. They will be crying why isn't the someone protecting us. The reason is, God gave you a brain so when you flood once you get your worthless butt out of the way before you flood again. Whacko  rant off

Lake Ontario drains into the St.Lawrence River which goes to the ocean.

I know, Skip.  That's what I mean.  The flow out of the lake keeps the water moving -- same reason I drip my faucets when it gets below 27*.

I think it's more the direction in which Ontario lays and it's depth and the prevailing winds. Like I said in an earlier post I'm pretty sure it's only frozen completely one time. Again that's the reason the Tug Hill Plateau gets over 300", Oswego gets 160" and Syracuse gets 126" per year. An article in the paper Sunday said Syracuse was the 5th snowiest city in the world. Population over 100,000 but not even close to the top three.. They were in Japan.

(y'all can fill in the blank).  House is dried in for the 30% of rain tonight, at least.  Thanks for the help, Bud.  I ended up just getting a carbide blade for the 7 1/4" mitre I keep at the house.  If you can get me the 5 1/2" dewalt kit with the 4aH batteries I'll get you a money order in 24h.
Sorry didn't get any post notices from the OT since 10am...

Deck be more specific about the saw and I'll hook you up.
the 20V is a 61/2" circ saw is a DCS391.
DCS391B is just saw no packs , charger of bag.
DCS391L2 is saw with 2 3.0AHR pack, charger, bag
DCS391M2 I saw with 2 4.0AHr pack, charger, bag
I just checked and SSS does carry many 20V tools yet so I'll have to check out the company store tomorrow.

About the only 20V stuff SSS has is the DCK590L2 kit for $262.22.  this kit goes $500-600 at lowes.
it has 5 tools, 2-3.0AHr packs, charger, bag
Drill
Recip
Impactor
Circ
Flashlight  it's the best deal...

the Circ by itself with two packs charger, bag will be between $125 and $175 I'm guessing

My friend just answered my question re: lake ice. He's an Oswego native has lived on the lakeshore for 30 years and says he's never seen this much ice. His quote was " I hope the shore ice is gone before Bass season which opens the 3rd Saturday in June".

Fun, skip I heard on the radio that the great lakes are at 95%+ iced over.

Just think how it iced over will effect the weather.   No high humidity thermoclines to keep the artic vortex where it belongs is one thing!!!

Bud, Google ice cover on the Great Lakes and look at the pic it's pretty neat. Maybe it's one of the sats. that they spy on us with. Careful on the way to and from the barn!

Mornin comradesHowdy

29* to start and going to 50* today with clear skies. 50s and 60s till Wed.

Bad news, good news, bad news, etc.. I poisoned Mrs. BF's Subaru with old gas Sunday. She had it taken to the dealer for repairs, that was the bad news. While it was there I had them check for a burning oil smell I couldn't find, and they found a leaking head gasket and can replace it in 2 days. that was the good news. It's going to be about $2,300.00 total. That was the real bad news.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.
