We can't do laundry because we're afraid the septic system will back up. The ground is so saturated that water wont absorb into it.
The rain is supposed to stop after today, but it's going to be a few days before it runs off.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

WOW...I'm totally glad you mentioned that, Lynn. I never thought of that.

We shall cease and desist ALL laundry until the monsoon has passed.

Lynn aren't you at the top of a hill?  Wouldn't think septic saturation back up would ever be an issue....

Huh?? It's an issue when the ground water is going into the ground faster than the system can perk. It backs up by flooding the ground directly above the lines.

Normally I don't worry about it, and I may be a little cautious, but the other day I poured some mop water in a rut in the front yard and it hasn't soaked in yet. This made me think about the septic field with all this rain. When you wash clothes it dumps a lot of water in the system, and I'd hate for the lateral lines to get clogged with undigested stuff.

Your so right, dear Brother. Thanks for the reminder!

The grass in the area directly above my septic lines is such a pretty green! Bucky

It will perk up and run off with the rest of the water. Dilution is the solution to pollution. You could add some Enzyme to the stool to speed up the breakdown in the tank and in the fields.

Mornin comradesCoffee

Rain has quit for the most part. Waiting for the rivers to crest now, but it's no big deal, since they will only crest slightly above flood stage.

Mark, got a concrete question for you involving walls.
Is it possible to cut or drill a 4"-6" round hole in a steel reinforced poured concrete wall, and if so, what kind of cost?
