Mornin gents.

Clear skies, temps are comfortable, humidity is OK. Why am I at work?

Before we had Barkly we had another Sheltie named Jasper. Jasper came to us from another owner who was moving out of the Country and couldn't take him with her. Jasper came from a long line of show dogs and his conformation was perfect except for one thing, he was to big. He was the size of a Boarder Collie and way to big to show. Mrs. BF had always wanted a Sheltie so she jumped on the opportunity to take him in, and the previous owner knew he was going to a good home.
After a few weeks of adjustment Jasper fell in love with Mrs.BF, but only tolerated me for about a year before he decided I was OK. I don't know if the fact that his former owner was a lesbian had anything to do with that or not.
For a long time Jasper got walked 3 times a day, and sense we lived in Old Loonyville at the time, he got walked on a leash. Jasper was also a blue merle (grey, white, and black in color) which is an unusual color for Shelties. It was not unusual for people walking or driving down the street to ask all kinds of questions about Jasper, and then comment how beautiful he was. Now Jasper being from a show dog line would then wave his head like a model, strike a pose, and would start a model walk like he was Fabieo the model. We called it his Fabieo pose.
Now like a model, Jasper had quirks. He would not go out if it was raining, not matter how bad he had to pee, etc., and would walk around a puddle no matter how large or small it was. He was one of the prissiest dogs I ever saw.
I could tell a lot of stories about Jasper, but the main thing was that Jasper loved Mrs. BF and she loved him. When we lost Jasper Mrs.BF was heart broke so bad that she thought another Sheltie would be just like Jasper, so we wound up getting Barkly as a puppy.
When Barkly got large enough to go for walks with us (we were already living at our present location) I wondered if Barkly was going to be a Fabieo or a dog. I took him for a walk with Tracer and Travis after a big rain so there were lots of muddy puddles. We came up to a puddle that Barkly could have gone around, but the Shepherds just trotted right through it and Barkly followed them like the puddle wasn't there. I said Barkly is a dog and I'm going to like him. It was just funny to watch him walk when his tail was up; with all the fur on his butt and legs, he looked like he was wearing pantylooms, or bloomers. Just didn't fit him.

Sheltie, aren't they the ones with stubby legs and normal sized bodies???  I always thought they were weird looking dwarf dogs....    How tremendously PC incorrect of me...Embarrassed

Your thinking of the Corgi. A Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) is also known as the miniature Collie.

Ah, a Corgi, right!  Wierd dogs they are!

I like Sheltie's except for all the hair!  Your comments on the dogs rear pantylooms makes more sense now... LOL

Well, I fell asleep on the sofa again last night after gorging on some Maryland steamed crabs... EmbarrassedTongueOuch
I woke up about 3am wanting more crabs....Smile.

Crawled into one side of the bed and out the other and into the shower...  Even the long soak didn;t wash away the cobwebs.... Dead

Setting here at work, sucking down tar grade Joe and trying to blink away the gummies....Confused

THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That and I have a bunch more crabs to devour after work..... Big smile

Weather is also much better than I hoped for too!!!

Mornin gents.

Partly cloudy, mid 60s going to upper 80s.

T minus 76 days and counting.

REALLY HOPING G and the family prepared for this storm. The fact that we haven't heard from him in a week makes me think that they were getting ready.

Just found out today that one of the K9 officers that used to work at the Port lost his dog that he used here. He retired her early for health issues, and it sounds like she passed away from the same issue that one of my Shepherds had. I'm sure he is tore up. Most every K9 officer I ever knew that got out of K9 left because they couldn't take loosing another dog.

I was on vacation in the keys when Flo showed up.. got stuck there, drove home and started prepping.   Decided to stay but had a backup plan in case house got damaged. Steel building is rated at 160mph so I knew I could book it out there if needed. I dropped several pine trees ahead of the storm... 4 large oaks still close to house but praying they hold. So much rain and wind for as long as it's expected to hang around is going to be devastating....

“G” U still have power? On our way up to north GA yesterday we saw caravans of power company and tree company trucks heading to NC. We only lost power for a few days during Irma, but it was hot and a real pita. Hope you fare well.
