I got plenty of power to tow it its just a matter of launching and all.  You ever tried to launch a 30ft boat?  its not easy at all especially in the boat ramps we have.

World Cats are nice in rough water!  Take waves great!  But you lose alot of cabin space!
If its strickly for fishing okay I'd prefer that over a center console all day long!  I want someplace to relax a little and get out of the sun.  I've always had a thing for Grady Whites and they hold their value almost as well as a Boston Whaler.  I also like Parkers Pilothouse.
Forward cabin and controls really give you maximim rear deck space for fishing!.

I got to think about using it for family time and overnight stays too.  I figure i can be more stable in the rough water with a shorter boat as long as I have the cat hull....

Thats one good reason for stern bracket outboards.  Makes the boat behave like a boat 2 foot longer than it is when underway.  At anchor short sucks, period!

I,ve wanted a 24+ ft Grady FOREVER but have never been able to justify the expense.  I have seen some fanastic deals go by the last 2 years, too!

You can get some amazing deals on used boats right now. With the economy down even new boats you can finance for a great rate.  Friend of the family just got a 10yr, 70K loan for 5.5%.... thats unheard of low rate on a boat

I even rebulit my 88c Cherokee fron teh ground up in anticipation of towing a boat with it.  Did a total tear down rebuild on hte engine w/ .30" overbore.  New suspension, tires cat III hitch.  It was running GREAT.  Then my daughtert learned to drive in it and wrecked it 3 times in less than 6 months.  Last time totalling it!  So thwen I bought a F250 4X4 to tow with.  First time I towed with it I towed my Wrangler that I had just lifted 6" to Gore, VA  not to far from Earl's place to rock crawl.  2am coming off I81 in Winchester the tranny blew the front seal and puked out all the fluid.  Coasted into a Sheetz Gas & Go.  Loaded all the stuff into the Wrangler.  Pulled the Wrangler off teh Uhaul trailer and left teh trailer and F250 there.  Went on to the campground and got there about 3:30am.  Up at 6am and crawling on the mountain by 7:30am.  Left early Sunday to deal with the F250.

On the way back to Sheetz from the campground I lost the freakin brakes on the Wrangler!

Drove the last 10 miles to Sheetz with no brakes.

Called home and my son got my sisteers Cherokeee and came to get me the Wrangler and the Uhaul trailer that had to be return Monday AM.

Made arrangements and got the F250 towed home for $175.00

When my son showed up we moved the uhaul over to it got het Wrangler on and all the stuff transfered.

On teh way home my sister's Cherokee overheated on a long , long upgrade and we had to stop for over an hour to let it cool off!   Thought for sure I'd had blown a headgasket .

Are you starting to see a pattern here!?!?!?!?

Anyway made it home okay unloaded everything and Sis let me use her Cherokee thte nesxt day t o return the uhaul trailer.  Monday evening my F250 gets delivered.  Ended up having to replace teh tranny.  Did that myself with a garanteed rebuild out of Florida.
Total cost for that weekend was about $4000!!!

Then I put my 19' Sea Ray in the shop for lower end outdrive service. $1200 later I get tit back, I am in the driveway loading boat up for her 1st trip of the year in the morning.

Oil was changed new plugs and points...  Earmuffs onm teh outdrive, water on... daughter comes home from work and talks t ome a couple of minutes then goes inside.

I tiddle a bit more then start her up.  She fires up immediately and is purring when I notice trhere is no water flow coming out of the prop!!!!  WTH?!?!  Turn her off and look around. everything is connected right.... then I see that my daughter had parked on top of the garden hose pinching off the water!

Moved her car and tried again but no water flow!!!  It took less than 1 minute of running with a new waterpump impellor and no water to melt and destroy the outdrive water pump!  Thats another 300-350 to pull aprart te hout drive ands replace all the melted parts, plus a gasket set and new outdrive oil...again!!!

I parked the damn boat!....that was 3 years ago!

How's that for luck?  God really doesn't want me on teh water I guess!!!

I am a one hour tow from the closest public boat ramp in the Chesapeake Bay,  Actuallly it is directly under the F.S. Key Bridge on the south side of Baltimore.

I still have it, a 1981 Sea Ray open Bow.  Its got pretty low gunwales so I feel much safer in a lake that teh Bay.  I've had her out in 3-5 ft seas and didn't like it even thought she took the waves well, just had top keep her nose up!

I really need to bite the bullet and either get rid of it or work on it and get her running again.  last I looked the upholster was coming apart.  I started t o look at it last year only to find the outdrive wouild gop up but not back down!  Great the damn things not even in the water and there is that PATTERN again!!!  SHe'll need new batteries (2) outdrive service and hydraulic service.  Even if I do all teh work myself it'll cost me $500 plus God know how much more!!!
