How was everyone's holiday weekend? I had to work but it wasn't all that bad. Pretty easy going and relaxing if you can believe it.

What did you end up doing G?

Well, Friday got home and went to eat with my parents.  Saturday morning, paper tuned and sighted in the bow, dang its sweet!  Then mowed the yard, all 5 acres of it.  Then shot the bow some more.  then ate a nice big steak, watched UNC football team get killed, Sunday ate with my grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins at Calabash (seafood) and then went down to Mrytle Beach for a little, came home and guess what, shot the bow some more.  Then today got up, bushogged some clearings for a few deer stands, and sighted in the 308 w/ new SS, 223 w/ new simmons that broke after 5 shots, and the big 300 win mag with the vortex viper on it.  Then,  shot the bow some more and packed it all up and came back to chapel hill.

WHat bout you?

Looking at Dodge Rams 1500's 05-06 used. I found 2 that are within an hours drive that have less than 40k miles on them and come in under 20k price tag. Kelley Blue Book has the retail value of them around 24k. They're both quad cab with 4 wheel drive and of course must have the 5.7 Hemi Big Smile I've always liked dodge. My dad's had one for 12 years and it's never given him problems other than an occasional small fix. I think he's over 130,000 miles on it now. Hate chevy's, and Fords, while i like them, do not have good reliability ratings and know to many people that have had one take a dump on them.

my father in law has a f-250 that has over 300K miles on it, my brother in law has a f-350 with 200K on it my silverado 1500 has 150K on it none of them have had anything major done to them, i lost a fuel pump in mine, thats the most serious fix ive done. i like chevy for 2 reasons, they ride nice and i can fix  them... if i cant i can call my dad he runs a shop that maintains almost 100 fleet pickups made by ford chevy and dodge.

When your done if your not doing anything...  We have about a month's worth of work at camp fixing roads, pushing back brush etc.  Big Smile  In a perfect world, we actually need a d6 for a month followed by a d8 for the same time period.

That's cool, no disrespect my friend!!!

My cousin (who's a club member) worked his way into a superintendent position for a large construction company (going on 20+ years). When he says we need a d8, I believe him... but it may be a "perfect world" statement by him. I have completely different job related experience so I trust what he says.

I will say the land that we're talking about... the brush is overwhelmingly thick and nasty, the terrain can be brutal and this is no understatement.

Bottom line is we need real good burn, unfortunately, it could never be a controlled and would become a wild fire lightning quick. This wouldn't be a good thing for a large part of Northern Cali as well as the fire fighters from the surrounding states. Dead

8shots might feel at home here (weather and possibly terrain wise only).  Big Grin

Morning all.

Graham, id be all over that if the Conquest is lightly used (believe option A or B on sample list). My .02. Doubt you'd run into any problems with that scope.

Hunter, i agree that the F250's and 350's are GREAT trucks, but right now im only looking at the 1500 class trucks. I really don't need to spend the extra on the larger models right now. Possibly down the road if we ever move onto a larger property and have more work to do around the place. If you research any F150 from the 04-07 range they easily have the most recalls, the most problem spots of any Ford, Dodge, or Chevy.
