I am looking for a new scope for my .25-06. I currently have a 3-9 x 40 FFII on it, but want to put a better/different scope on it. I'm looking for a little higher manification for range time yet still retaining the lower power for hunting. I want a slightly larger objective, but not a 50mm. And finally, I want to make an upgrade in glass/quality from my FFII. Essentially, the scope that has all the specs I'm looking for is the one below, the Sig Select 3-12 x 44.

I'm not super familiar with the product lineups of other brands besides Burris. Does anyone have any suggestions for a different scope with similar specs that may be slightly cheaper or slightly nicer for more money? I'm hoping to keep this scope under $500. I'd also sort of like to try out a different brand as well...
Thanks for your help!

Have you looked at the Nikon Monarch scopes on sale at SWFA http://www.swfa.com/pc-6852-218-nikon-55-165x44-monarch-ucc- riflescope.aspx
The ones that don`t have new infront of them are on sale. They are new scopes last years model and the Monarch glass is a step up from the fullfield 2 you might want to call them to see what models they have in stock.

There are several scopes that are in the same general ballpark as Signature Select and a definite step up from Fullfield II (and are in your price range):
Personally, i do not think na larger objective lens will make an practical difference here, but improved optics, certainly will. Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x40 or 4-16x50 Nikon Monarch mentioned above Sightron S2 Big Sky 3-12x42 If you are really looking for a step up perhaps you should also consider IOR 2.5-10x42 Hunting with 4a reticle. It is a little above your price range, but it is a step up from all the scopes above. ILya |
