Spent some time at the range on Saturday and after everyone left, I set up my camera and took some photos and videos while in actions.
I don't have them all at work with me, but managed to get one that I though was really good. |

For me there is not enough DOF. Maybe the forestock and bolt should also have been in focus. Otherwise a more side on view would have been more interesting. At the moment the only thing to focus on (pardon the pun) is the scope lens.

Ted an I have been talking about getting together here soon.
He's going to supply a hands on experieince regarding use, DOF, different focusing elements, shutter speed, F stop and other related points regarding photography in general. I honestly love the camera, and use it nearly every day, but I would like to become better using it, mostly, because I can contribute content for the OT and share it with you all.

Just as far as making an image is concerned, on the first 2, I would also "clone and heal" out the brown spots in the background in post or shoot it against a different background at a further distance away from your subject so your background enhances rather than distracts from the image. You could use a higher f-number (smaller aperture) to increase DOF just a little and angle the rifle ever so slightly so your subject focus is on the action and scope. Or focus on the muzzle and let the remainder of the rifle gradually fade out of focus. Then sharpen and adjust color and contrast in post.
