I am considering a Pentax 65 edII and there xw 14 or 20 eyepiece or a 65 viper hd with there 25x eyepiece? I will use it for spotting deer and elk from my pickup and digiscoping. Which would you choose? If the Pentax which eyepiece? Thanks

Tough call. I used to have a ed65, and really liked the image. There are very good reviews for the Viper HD out there as well. I spent some time with the Viper HD 80mm, and thought it was a really good value.
The Viper HD is available with great digiscoping accessories, and if you will be doing that a lot, I would probably go with the Viper.
Vortex also has a better warranty.

Would there be a benefit in buying the 25x eyepiece for the vortex?

Typically there is an optical advantage to fixed eyepieces, but I don't know if that eyepiece is compatible with Vortex' digiscoping equipment. I have a Vortex Razor HD spotter, and i am more than satisfied with the performance of the zoom, even for digiscoping.

I stopped by the warehouse today to take a look at these. Of course they didn't have either one. They took the viper 20x60hd, razor hd and the leica outside for me to look though. What a difference between the viper and the razor!! The warehouse here sets right on snake river canyon and you can look for 15 miles. I was not impressed with the viper in the least, terrible eye relief and was hard to see through above 40x. The razor was much better imo. I should have stopped there, but made the mistake of looking through the leica. Monday I'm going to order the leica and cry all the way to the bank :-) but I hope will last me for the rest of my hunting career!!

And there lies the problem with all good glass, once you look at the best you never want to go back!Youv'e made a very wise decision. In 5 yrs see how much trade value you get for the Razor vs. the Leica

Hmmmm, I don't know about that. I actually predict the Razor will hold its value quite well. My hunting partner keeps trying to get me to sell him mine, in fact. I might just do it, and check out the new Zeiss super-spotter.
The Leica is an excellent instrument, and I do think the OP will get many years of great use out of it.

I have been using the Pentax Pf 65 ED2 with the XW 14 eyepiece all summer.
I previously had the XF Zoom on it. I don't miss the zoom at all.
28x is a perfect compromise for this scope. The XW14 has a 70 degree apparent FOV,sharp to the edges, no CA and brighter/better resolution thah the XF Zoom on 28x.
I feel to get a better image than this combo produces in a 65mm you woud have to go to a new Zeiss, Swaro or Leica with wide angle zoom or their fixed eyepieces.
