< 100 yards, for a rifled 870 barrel.

I was thinking of going fixed. and fairly cheap.

I've seen some 4x's in Vortex Crossfire, Bushnell Banner, & Pentax Gameseeker.  I know the Leupold FXII 2.5x would rock, but they want upwards of $250 for 'em.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!

There is also the Swift Reliant  http://swfa.com/Swift-4x32-Reliant-Rifle-Scope-P8856.aspx - http://swfa.com/Swift-4x32-Reliant-Rifle-Scope-P8856.aspx and the Weaver 4X  http:///swfa.com/Weaver-4x38-Classic-K-Rifle-Scope-P5054.aspx - http:///swfa.com/Weaver-4x38-Classic-K-Rifle-Scope-P5054.aspx
I have been using a variable Crossfire for a few months and it is a very good scope for the money.

Used a Weaver V3 for an H and R 12 ga. slug gun for years with no problems.  They are a bargain for the price.

I'm thinking about a Bushnell 3-9x40 Trophy scope for my H&R 20ga slug gun, I like the long eye relief of 5 inches,,,,what do you guys think?..........thanks

Staying in your  budget , I 've had good success with Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7's on several 12 ga slug guns with no worries and the now discontinued Pentax Whitetails Unlimited 2-5's ( may still find a few out there--nice bold reticle)

I have the 870 rifled deer gun and have used a Leu 1-4 shotgun scope on it for years. I don't know what they charge south of the boarder but shouldn't be more than about $200. I like the trim (20mm straight) short scope tube and everything about this scope. Good optics, lightweight (no front bell) reliability and a great warrenty if you should ever need it on a hard kicking shotgun. Doubt you'll need it though.

I personally stay away bushnell scopes.  I just bought a nikon slughunter 3-9x40 scope for my mossberg slugster and with the right bullet i can drive nails at 200 yards.
