How does Stag ARs compare against the likes of DD, LMT, RRA, and Bushmaster ARs?

I have my eyes on Stag 2 with many Magpul upgardes ( ACR, AFG, Grip, ASAP, Sling etc) and inexpensive Reddot for $1150.

What do you think?

No actual personal experience, but I've heard they are quite decent. I was looking at their Model 6, but ended up going in a bit of a different direction. They were very helpful.

If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

Eh....Stag (CMT) makes a "good" AR. More in line with a Bushmaster, perhaps a Rock River.
Not sure I would put them in the same class as a LMT, Colt or a Bravo Co, though.

Depending on round count and how "inexpensive" the red dot is, I think Stag AR's would serve 90% of shooters out there very well.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

How about the price?

Does it seem fair?

IMHO any AR-15 or M-4 clone you buy should have properly staked Bolt Carrier Group, properly staked Castle Nut, Magnetically Particle Inspected Bolt and Barrel, chromed barrel in 5.56 with 1/7 to 1/9 twist and a forged receiver.
Look at a Colt or BCM carefully and note the features and inspection marks and then compare what you saw on the Colt or BCM with the gun you are considering.
Stag guns are a bit below the police spec M&P 15's, their higher end guns are not trashmaster's but they do produce some trashmaster's so be careful.
Many times you can find a S&W M&P 15 police spec gun, a "good gun" for the close to the same or lower price than one of the trashmaster guns.
Sometimes you can find a Colt on special for a very decent price.
BCM's are a little tough to buy but are a very nice gun.
The M&P 15 is not a Colt or BCM but is a "good gun" and S&W stands behind them with a warranty.
S&W makes a hobby gun, .223 barrel, etc. without some of the inspected parts that is sold very inexpensively..cheaper at many of the large sporting goods stores than the trashmaster guns.
Just don't shoot 5.56 in a gun with a .223 barrel or you could end up splitting the barrel and destroying the gun.
Yes, I have seen it happen and it is not pretty.
If you watch the large sporting good stores and even local gunshops you should be able to find what you want at a decent price..be patient and take your time.
If you can afford it, get one of the M&P 15/22's, they are reliable and just plain fun, your kids will love you..the Black Dog 50 rnd. drum makes for great fun and looks really Mall Ninja kool.
I hope you enjoy shooting whatever gun you get.
Take a quality basic training course and then have some fun.

I have an LMT and until I figured out the only ammo it'll shoot accurately is 77gr black hills I wasn't that happy.

Now I love it but I would advise against the piston version its a breeze to clean but it only has 300 rounds thru it and the buffer tube is getting mauled aswell as the Cam pin. LMT says it'll wear in and stop. Hopefully they are correct.

It shoots very accurately for a combat AR and especially for a piston gun. But only with those heavy bullets.

None of my buddies have anything bad to say about their Stags! Not to many companies make crap AR's now a days. Just gotta figure out what you want to use it for. And buy accordingly.

i used a stag lower for my last build, and it mates very good with a bcm upper.

i have a 12 year old 16" RR with 6k thru it, and it still shoots 1/2" with handloads. so if the stag is on par with RR then i'd say go for it.

beware of cheap red dots.

I think stag is an "ok" AR. It is certainly better than no AR. But I would rather have a Colt, DD, etc..
