Hello all.

I have a pair of Meopta Meostar 10x50 binos.  They are great and I opted for the extra 1" of length and extra 6-7 oz of weight of the 50 mm objectives over a comparable 10x42 for the brighter image at dawn / dusk.  I compared them to a buddy's set of 10x42 EL's and they were great.  But I am looking for a smaller, semi-compact 8x bino for tight, thick cover during archery.

I am currently looking at Swaro 8x30 SLC neu via ebay or Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32.  Does anyone have any side-by-side experience with these two?

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a smaller 8x30 or 8x32 for around $600-$700?

Thanks, Jake

For archery, I find light gathering the most cruicial versus absolute crystal clarity at distance.  With that said, I really like my Zen Ray ED2's for less than half of that$700 for archery:

I've also heard good things about the Talon HD's - and they are on clearance:

Thanks for the info guys.

I agree that Zen-Ray and Vortex offer very high quality for the price.  I have a Zen-Ray ED2 spotter and have owned Vortex, but I just cannot get past the double hinge design.  I had a pair of Vortex Razor 8.5x50, which I ended selling because of the open hinge design.

I will have to look at the Kowa.  I just worry that once you buy Kowa you are stuck with it or you have to be satisfied with selling and losing 25-50%.

Regards, Jake

My go to binoculars for the past few years have been the 6x32 vortex vipers which would work for your bowhunting real well. The new models are hd and in the price range stated. The best thing about the kowa and vortex size glasses are that they make carrying very easy plus a great view.

You can find the Meostar 8X32 at (or near) that price range.

It is a fine binocular.

This is the ticket.  I'd go a step farther and look at the Cabelas Instinct (euro) HD 8x32.  Fantastic stuff.

Meopta Meostar 8x32 and Kowa Genesis 8x33 would be at the top of my list.
