I am looking to get a new scope and have always heard good things about Leupold.  After reading some comments I am now thinking that maybe the Burris may have an edge?  I want a 3x9x50 to go on a Rem 700 ADL .270cal.  It will be used for whitetail 75-250 yds, most big bucks are taken at dawn or dusk.  The VX-II is $349 with rings & mounts, the Burris is about $269-279 w/o rings & mounts.  The morning temps can be sub-freezing with afternoon temps in the 60's, some rainy day hunts, so maybe it needs to be waterproof.

Which is the best choice or is there a better one in the $250-350 range.

I would give the Burris FFII a slight but noticeable edge over the Leupold VX-II.  Very good quality, lower price, and a package that includes a free set of binoculars or spotting scope.  However, both are good scopes.

I'd take a FFII over VX-II any day.

Just about all good scopes these days are nitrogen filled and well sealed agianst water getting inside, however, it sounds like for you application external foggin and water droplets are a big deal. If that is the case you should consider using water repellant wipes, or perhaps upgrade to Bushnell Elite 4200 scope with Rainguard coatings.

Helllo 700ADL

A upgrade to a 4200 like Koshkin recomened would be ideal for your needs.

It will be well worth the little extra money.
