Hey, all. My Dad is looking for a good piece of glass in the $900 to $1,000 range. Crisp, durable and especially, good in dim light. He'd like to stay below the 50mm objective size; 42mm would be optimal.
I told him to let me check on here before he orders because advise is always solid.
Is there better than the Z3 in that range? Thank you much for your help!

So, the HD5's and that particular Trijicon are superior to the Swaro Z3?

Huff, I think the z3 would be a great choice for your dad. I have the 3-10x42 that has great glass and have to think the 50mm would be the same.  http://swfa.com/Swarovski-4-12x50-Z3-Riflescope-P40819.aspx - http://swfa.com/Swarovski-4-12x50-Z3-Riflescope-P40819.aspx

I think any listed would get your dad well past legal hunting times so really its a wash.   think about what reticle he likes, does he like illumination, etc, and pick from the options which is best.   Zeiss makes great stuff, as does many more including swaro.  I personally love swaro's on hunting rigs because they are light and great clarity.  I do tend to wish for illumination on most of my hunting rigs simply due to low light shots are easier with it.
