These are the 2 in your price range with which I have the most experience.  Both are quite good, the Vortex has the advantage of being able to buy a fixed magnification eye piece with ranging reticle - maybe the Pentax too, not sure.  The Pentax has a very good eye piece.

If you want to save a bit, the Pentax is no slouch; if you are comfortable going over just a bit, the Razor is good.

Not knowing anything about what you plan to do with it, I can't go much further.

Will be glassing bean fields late evenings anywhere from 400 yards to 3/4 of a mile. Also elk hunting out west
Just not sure what I need, I'd rather have to much scope than not enough. I'm flexible I can go down in price or go up I just want to stay under 2k

I don't glass elk with spotter, maybe someone else can help with that.  I do glass in dying light and my Razer with 30X wide is a great fit for that.

Another option might be the lower mag razer, I think it is 11-30X or something like that.  It will be lighter when humping hills chasing elk, but not as bright in low light.

Everything is a trade-off.  I myself am still seeking the elusive silent 50BMG with no recoil, cheap to shoot, light weight, and compact, and accurate beyond a mile, with 30-inch barrel velocity from its 18-inch barrel.

My dad and I have a Razor we share.  We glass a lot of elk and deer with it here in Utah.  It is a great spotter IMO.  I also have a older Meopta spotter, it is good but the eye piece on the Vortex is much superior.

Last year I picked up a Kowa TSN 770. It's mighty awesome... but not cheap!

Does anyone have experience  leupold golden ring? 12-40x60 is half the weight at 37oz compared to 65oz
on the larger scopes. Will the larger scope work off my truck window?

excellent choice, the Meopta.

The Vortex you ask about is plenty good but too heavy to slog to your spot, especially the way is not clear.
