So I am on the hunt for another scope and I am hoping to get some help.  I had a horrible experience with a scope that had 4 inches of parallax error at 100 yards and it was supposed to be adjusted at 100meters, but even at that distance it was pretty unbearable.  I will be using this for a 20" .223 wylde AR15.  I have an SS12x but feel it is to heavy and to much magnification, but the SS will be perfect for the 300 win mag I plan to get soon.  SO here is what I am looking for.

- A light rifle scope, under 15oz. (12-13 preferable)

- Parallax adjustable.

- AO around 4-10, I could settle for a sharp 3-9 or possibly a 4-12, something like that.

- I am not picky about the reticle but it would be nice with something illuminated.  The issue is that adds to the weight.

After doing some research I actually think the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 is a great fit.  12oz, 3-9x40 or 4-12x40.  I like the 3-9 with the firedot but it doesn't have parallax adjustment.  The 4-12 would be great also but it doesn't have the firedot as an option.

Basically, if someone can guarantee that parallax is not an issue on the 3-9 that is what I will go with since it weighs less and has plenty of magnification for the ranges I will be shooting at.  I am super paranoid about parallax errorLoco and might just get the 4-12 because of this.

Thanks.

Maybe I will just buy both and then I will have to build another upper for which ever is left over.  If only I had an endless cash supply.

Probably a stupid question, but could you define "4 inches of parallax error"?

Not a stupid question, I sorta made that measurement up. If I center the crosshairs on a target, I can make the reticle move up 2", down 2", left or right 2" without moving the gun, just by moving my head around. I consider that 4 inches. Or you could look at it as about 4moa (I know moa doesn't equal inches, that's why I say about 4moa).

I have read it is only possible for parallax error to be off by a few mm, but that was not the case with that scope. It was an old model Bushnell 3500 elite 10x. I have heard the new model is much better.

Does anyone have experience with the AR MOD 1 Leupold scopes?

Or get a better scope.  To me, a quality scope will have minimal to no parallax error.  Scopes should not have 4 inches of parallax error.  To me that shows there is something wrong like one of the lenses being out of alignment.

And, your snarky comment is not useful nor helpful guy.

Not to mention the scope was supposed to have ZERO error at 100 yards.
