Question: the debate between Razor and  Swaro spotter has been beaten to death.  My question though is, after 5-7 years, is the image on the Razor going to be the same as year 1?  And is the image on the Swaro going to be the same as year 1?

Im not sure if I understand what you're saying.

There is nothing on the spotters that is going to "degrade" the image so unless your eye site has changed, the image from spotters should be identical throughout the life of the spotter (unless coatings etc have worn off).

That being said, new models may looks significantly different if they have changed their coatings etc.

I've had my Swaro bins for 10yrs and looking through them they are just as sharp now as they were when I bought them.

I haven't had a spotting scope for that long but would expect no less.

apologies if i've misunderstood what you're asking.

cheers
Jeelan

With reasonable care, the image through the a well-made spotter should not have any noticeable degradation in five years.

There are of course potential issues if there were QC slip throughs, but they can happen to any brand.

For example, I have occasionally seen coatings delaminate due to repeated temperature/humidity cycles, but that usually means that there were problems with the deposition chamber and that is fairly rare with high end glass.

I thought this was about age spots.
