Anyone running 6.5 Creedmoor in an AR platform?  Looking for some optics recommendations.

Have a MegaArms 308 AR that I'll have Mark Chanlynn rebarrel in 6.5 Creed.  Got the bug after having him build me a bolt action rifle in that caliber.

Thinking something around the $1500 mark.  If it gets any higher, I'm inclined just to buy another March 3-24x42 scope, which will run be a few dollars shy of $2K.

Thinking something in the 3-18X range, FFP, mil/mil.  Illumination is a plus but not necessary.  This will primarily be a range rifle, but weight of scope is a consideration.

I have a Razor Gen 2 3-18x that I was thinking about moving but weight and price are concerns.  I do really like this scope except for the weight.

Steiner T5Xi Tactical 3-15x50mm is another alternative if price drops.  Guy is selling a used T5Xi 5-25x56 for $1450 that is tempting but more glass than I need.

Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44mm definitely hits the weight criteria, but reviews seem hit or miss.  Ilya's review on Opticthoughts was a little encouraging.

Welcome any thoughts.

Steiner worth a shot?  Seems the early issues are over and folks are pretty high on them.

Rifle weighs in a 8lbs without scope, so weight is not as big of a consideration.

I'll give the Steiner a run.  Worse case, I'll flip the Razor on the 6.5 Creed and use the Steiner on the other rifle.

Let us know on the Steiner, I've wondered about them.

I have the gen 2 razer also and really like it - except the weight.

Will do RC.  Ilya and Coker's reviews are encouraging.

I liked the T5Xi 3-15x50 I tested and they seem to have resolved the QC issues.  equally importantly, if something goes wrong, they take care of you.

I am not a huge fan of the SCR reticle, but it works.  Just took a little getting used to.

Honestly, in the $1500 range, if you want FFP your options really come down to
Steiner T5Xi
Bushnell Long Rang Hunter 4.5-18x44
SWFA 5-20x50
EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50

If you are OK with SFP, there are other options of course.  If you are OK looking around, you may snatch up a used scope that was more expensive to start out with.

I have both the SWFA 3x15x42 on a RPR 6.5 and a SWFA 5x20x50 on an AR 10 I built and am very please with both. For the price couldn't beat it. The illumination is not as good as I expected the glass is not a problem. The 5x20x50 is heavy though and am thinking of changing the two scopes around on the rifles. The RPR will be a bench shooter, to heavy to carry around, and the AR 10 will be more an out in the field shooter plus don't need that much power in the field.

This was a blem model that came in at $1078 shipped, so it wasn't a difficult decision looking at the other options.  I was really interested in giving the Mark 6 3-18x a try, but just couldn't make the leap based on reviews and higher price point.

Considered another SWFA scope, but really didn't need the 5-20X range for my purposes, and as Seeker noted, it is a big scope.

I'll get some pictures and range review posted once I get all the pieces in.
