Are there any quality scopes for an AR-15 with the carry handle mount? Most of the scopes I see with the carry handle mount are cheap and crappy. Do I just need to get a flat top upper?

Thanks.

I say http://www.swfa.com/c-19-trijicon-rifle-scopes.aspx - Trijicon  if it is your price range. The acogs are excellent scopes if you are wanting a variable power scope then you need to get a flattop upper.

I would get a flat top upper.  You will never be able to get a good cheek weld with an optic on top of the carry handle, your head will just be floating and you will not be consistent with you shots.  You can get a cheek piece for it, but then it does not allow you to mount the rifle properly to your shoulder.
They are not that hard to change out, you just need a few tools and a field gauge to double check the head spacing.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

AMEN!

A2 uppers are great if you are planning on using iron sights exclusively, but they suck for optics, even with the best mount set ups, IMHO.

I'd get a flattop and be done with it. You'll be going from one of the worst scope mounting scenarios possible to what I personally feel is the most solid and versatile one available.
If you ever need to use irons, get one of the BUIS' s or a clamp-on carry handle.
