Ive been reading a lot of the bases on the Thompson Center Pro Hunter leave a gap near the front of the base and the barrel. Are there any that do not gap? Any recomendations for rings and bases would be appreciated. It would also be nice if the base would allow the scope to be moved  forward if possible.

I use Leupold dovetail mounts on my 2 Encores and they are solid ( and yes-there is a slight gap)

Most of the ones that do not gap are real short ....hence not as user friendly as far as scope placement.

Mine have gaps...I've written it off as one of the things in life I can't change.

Which bases do you have? if you prefer no gaps a weaver is probably the way to go?

On a different note a side from the gaps, has anyone tried the quick release mounts? Ive never used them, are they solid? I have considered them also.

Yes I have and use the warne with quick release levers and they always return to zero. If you look at the thread under firearms...rifle looney pics .     you can see one of my set-ups.
