Hi, I'm new to this great site... what a range of topics. And fun too.
Here's my question, and it comes from ignorance. I've just been given a 20 year old Ruger M77 rifle that has a Weaver Classic 600 scope mounted on it. The thing is I've never owned a rifle with a scope, and this came without directions so how do I use the various adjustable knobs on the top and right side of this scope? Are all scopes the same when it comes to how these knobs work? I assume that they control the elevation and sideways accuracy of the crosshairs. Would anyone know if Weaver has a website that might have tech info. on their products? |

Steve, Tell me what the tube size and magnification of the scope is and I can probably help you. Weaver has changed hands so many times that factory help may be hard to get. The knob on the top is for up and down and should be so marked, The one on the right side is for left and right and should be so marked.
Remember this is an old scope and may have sealing and adjustment issues (fatigued spings inside) You might be better served to go to SWFAs and look for a new scope in your budget. For example. there are a number of Bushnell 3-9X scopes that are superior to your old Weaver that sell for less than $100. Let me know. |

Weaver Classic scopes were and are good scopes but technology has moved forward in 20 years. As 30mikemike said Weaver has changed hands several times and it's probably time to look at upgrading that classic. There are scope collectors interested in Weavers so your scope still has value. If money is tight all you need to know about adjusting it is the top is up and down and the right side knob is right and left. But if you have the money I'd invest $200 in one of SWFA's Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 scopes.I would not put any <$200 scope on any of my rifles.
