Hi folks, looking for your collective advice:

I'm looking for a small, light & variable scope for my .22lr Brno Model-1.

I use the scope for 50m plinking at my local club, for 30m running boar as a warm up for the 9.3x62 (less expensive to warm your swing up that way!) and also as an occasional small "critter gitter".

Currently I have an ancient Nikko Stirling 4x32 on the top of it. This works fine and looks right but it is too much magnification in some ways for 50m and certainly too much for running boar. Also, it could do with a little more mag for bunnies out at 100m. So, am thinking something ~2-7x32 or similar.

Also, I like to have a bit of redundancy so I don't want a specific rimfire scope as I'd like the option of putting it on a centre fire rifle the need arises.

What do you reckon folks? Thank you in advance,

Scrummy

I'd go with one of the Leupold rimfire scopes.  The 3-9x33 EFR would be an excellent choice as it would allow you to set prallax at your specific distances.  don't know how available those are in your part of the world though.  Availability could be an issue.

I mounted a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 on my Zastava 22 magnum rifle.  Vortex doesn't produce that scope any more, but their Diamondback and Viper HS line have comparable scopes as well.

Availability in Geneva could get interesting though.

I have been very happy with my Simmons 22 mag 3-9x32 AO for squirrel hunting and general plinking. BSA also makes something similar called a sweet 22. The only thing I dislike about the two aforementioned scopes are the high turrets.

If you're willing to spend a little more, the 2.5-7x28 Weaver Classic and 2-7x35 Vortex Diamondback rimfire scopes are some solid options. Just my opinion.
