I've got a couple of SA rem 700's , a sendaro in .308 and a custom .284 on a tuned action. I'd like to shoot these longer range (500-1000yds); so, 1. Do I need a 20moa base? 2, If so, what do you recommend without breaking the bank? 3. Rings, the same question, decent ones, good deal for the money? 4. Both scopes are SS. Thanks in advance. |

1) You really don't "need" a 20 MOA base with the SS. However, it wouldn't hurt. If your switching out scopes a lot, or want more fore and aft movement for setting up your scope, then by all means, get a 20 MOA rail. If not, then consider my comment on #3.
2) I'd suggest EGW rails as sold by our Gracious Host, SWFA. Pretty inexpensive, but work well. TPS also makes decent rails, but EGW is about as low as I'd go quality wise. 3) Another option would be to use Talley Lightweight rings. I've switched over to these lately and haven't looked back. You would need LOW rings to go with your Rem 700's and the SS, provided they are 42mm. They are PERFECT with a 42mm SS. I'd go with MED for the 50mm SS. If you decide on a rail, then I'd look at Seekins rings, or TPS TSR rings. Both are really good. The TPS is going to be cheaper, but I prefer the Seekins by a smidge. Hope it helps.
