Stock came yesterday. I think it added about half a pound.

Hope it helps you shoot as well as the stock I got for my Ruger American.

We shall see, my front action screw broke, so I had to get a replacement. It was loose when I pulled it out of the original stock, which is odd, because I put it in there with blue loktite.

When I went to tighten after I put the new stock on, I barely got it beyoond finger tight, and about 1/8th in off the tip broke. Thankfully I was able to get the broken piece out.

I am going to get it bedded and add pillars.

It doesn't shoot any better, in fact reloads that shot well out of it don't. Neither did the hornady ammo the gunsmith shot it with.

What kills me is I took my 700 BDL 270 with me, and with Federal Premium 130 grain Nosler BT's, it put 3 shots in a hole I could easily cover with a dime at 100 yards.

My Ruger M77 7-08 stainless laminate carbine put 3 shots in less than an inch, with a 16.5 in barrel and reload of 48gr H414 and a 120 Gr BT. It wasn't like I worked up that load, I just picked a number in the range and loaded it.

And I learned something very interesting. I shot the 7-08 at the indoor range at 35 yards, and it shot some Hornady Light Mag 139 grain ammo well. As in, I would hunt with it. At 100 yards, 4 or 5 inch group.

Also shot the SST Superformance, similar results.

So as it stands, every bit of ammo I have for that gun is being sold to buy powder and bullets and primers.

Have you ever cleaned all the copper out of the barrel with an ammonia solvent?  I had a remington .308 that near 35 to 40 rounds down the tube it would open up considerably.  I would have to clean all copper out and then it would take 2 shots to tighten backup after clean cold bore.

Maybe try the david tubbs barrel conditioning kit. I did that in that gun and it helped with the copper fouling quite a bit.  I could go around 50 rounds and the fouling was not as hard to clean out afterwards.

Last weekend I was able to handle that stock with a Howa barreled action. Nice stock. Hope you get things figured out.

Yes I got some stuff at the store across the street, and cleaned all my rifles. My old 270 had a ton of copper fouling in it, which this stuff cleaned out in a hurry. It still shot well though. It has always shot well though. It's amazing. Not like a 270 is renowned for accuracy either.

This tactical gun is just frustrating. I sent Remington an email about it, waiting to hear back. Their website talks about the 700 being as accurate out of the box as a custom rifle, so I am going to harp about that when they get back to me.

I like the stock, but it isn't as soft recoiling as the hogue. It wasn't bad though. I just don't want to drop 175 to pillar and glass bed it and then it still shoot all over the place. I would be better off to sell it and get something else, or send it off for an accurizing or rebarrel job.

So $200 for stock. $175 for bedding. How much for barrel job and barrel? You see?? At some point I could just get a custom rifle.
