I currently own a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24X40, but was thinking about a Super Sniper. Any thought or suggestions on what would be a good choice? I want to keep the budget low, but want something that will perform 300-800 yards fairly well. Any thoughts on magnification? 10X? 16X? 20X? Any real advantage to a side focus? Thanks in advance for your time & Help

Get the 10x for sure. We've sold hundreds of the Super Sniper's to the Military and we always sell the 10's. The only advantage the side focus will give you is convenience. Both models will perform the same.
Here are some photos we recently received from Super Snipers in use currently:

Does the military seem to favor the side focus or the standard model?? |

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Optically, your 4200 is significantly superior to the Super Sniper, but
from a mechanical standpoint the SS is truely a great scope. It
kinda depends on what you are looking for. If you want to crank
in a bunch of firing solutions the SS is a superb deal. If you
will not be constantly changing adjustment, then what you have is
better.

If it ain't accurate at long distance, the fact that it is flat shooting is irrelevant.

Yes the non side focus is the most popular. I'm sure the $100 difference plays a big role in that.

I'm assuming you are using a .308 and that particular gun is far more accurate than anything in the military photos. An SS10 on a carbine, give me a break now that's overkill. The scope you have is much better for the gun you are putting it on and the benefits you will receive from it.

Actually the Bushnell is back at the manufacturer for repair/replacement, It seems that there is an internal scope error of some sort. I mounted the 6-24X40 on the 700PSS, but no matter what I did there was not enough elevation in the adjustment to get the crosshair up to where the point of impact was. I am going to leave the 6-24X40 on the AR15, and have ordered a Super Sniper with a 20MOA badger base & rings. Hopefully I will like it, if not then I will put it on a different gun and start over. From what I have read, It will be a good scope from 200- 800 yards.... I will rarely be going further than that. Thanks for the input!!
