OK, I know its maybe not night vision as such, but I wonder if anyone here has put a good laser on top of a regular rifle scope and used it successfully at night?

I just want to hear if this concept works and what kind of combo (scope/laser) you use. Cool

Also, I´ll be hunting in the cold, few degrees below freezing - do these lasers work under those conditions?

It sounds like you're trying to duplicate an illuminated reticle.  Just guessing that the cost of a good laser would buy you an illumination upgrade; even if you sold your current scope and bought another with illumination.  I also think the illuminated reticle would be a far better solution as it might be difficult to keep the laser and the scope perfectly aligned - no matter what, I don't think you could align them to the same precision as an IR.  Not to mention adding a laser would add more weight and adversely affect handling and negatively affect the aesthetics of the rifle.  Finally, as distance increased the laser would get weaker and weaker.

Are you talking about replicating an illuminated reticle, or passing the laser through a diffuser and turning it into a long range flashlight?  I think there is a company or two that tries this with the green laser technology.  I have no experience with it.  I have seen this done with  a red laser, but it would only be good for close quarters illumination.
